North East Skills Training

MICRO ADVENTURES

Have you ever wanted to explore the great outdoors but don't have the knowledge or equipment? North East Skills Training can plan, supply most of the equipment and most importantly introduce you safely to this experience. With more than twenty years of Mountain Leadership experience leading groups all over the world you can count on NEST for a great more local introduction.

NEST is currently using the Cheviot Hills and the Lake District for their introductions to wild camping in tents, bivi bag or indeed hammock if you fancy something different.

Most of our Micro Adventures are held at the weekend or during the school holidays and could begin from work on the Friday ending Sunday. You could return to work on Monday for the obligatory "did you do much at the weekend chat" with so much more to say. Most of our introductions have been for one night with a short walk into the area before setting up camp for an evening of kit talk, story telling or star gazing.

  • Can be one or two nights in duration at the weekend or during school holidays
  • Individuals and families welcome
  • Most equipment can be supplied
  • Lessons in equipment use and choice
  • Lessons in navigation, hill safety and movement
  • Lessons in camp craft and access

Testimonials

"I have wanted to wild camp for some years now but believed I didn't have the knowledge or correct equipment. I used NEST after hearing from a friend about their services and through their expert guidance I now feel prepared for many more unsupported adventures. NEST taught me how to use my own equipment correctly and allowed me to use some of their top end gear. I came away from this experience feeling more knowledgable and more importantly for me mentally refreshed and looking forward to many more trips from my short brush with nature"

"Had a fantastic time with North East Skills Training!!! Andrew went above and beyond in ensuring my first wild camping experience was a one never to be forgotten. He is very understanding and provided a wealth of information in regards to gear, food, weather and most importantly keeping safe in the outdoors. The knowledge and stories he shared about the area, flora, fauna etc was tremendous. Andrew is very friendly and highly entertaining, which helps put you at ease when you are learning the skills that you might be nervous about! A big thank you Andrew! - because of your expertise I now feel confident enough to venture out wild camping on my own. I will definitely be back for another adventure soon"
